Yearly Bible Reading Plan
Since God’s Word is spiritual, we need the Holy Spirit to help us to understand it; therefore, before beginning your reading each day, ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight into God’s Word by readying your heart to hear and to obey what God says. As you read, ask some questions. “What is the main point of this passage? What does it tell me about Jesus, His character, His plan and work of salvation? What does it tell me about His desires for my life such as a command to obey, an example to follow, a sin or habit to avoid, a truth to share with someone else?” After you have read the passage, again pray and ask God to help you remember and reflect on what you have read during the rest of the day. The first column contains the full reading for the day if you wish to read through the entire Bible in one year. The second column highlights a key section in the passage if you cannot read the entire section. The third column points out a key verse (s) for you to think about during that day.
For regular disciplined reading of the Bible, you’ll need a quiet place free from distraction and conducive to study and thinking. Then relax as you read. This schedule is only man-made; there will be days when travel, family responsibilities, or interruptions make it difficult for you to read that day’s passage. When you do miss a day or more, start again where you left off. Eventually you’ll find time where you can do more reading to catch up.
