August Bible Readings

Effective Bible study is largely a matter of good habits of work.  Begin with firm determination and begin at once.  Get in the mood by starting to read: the Bible creates its own mood.  The way to read the Bible is actually to read it.  Have a strategy, a plan.  One of the most popular is known by the code SQ3R which stands for Survey: Question: Read: Recall: Review.  Survey the passage by getting a big picture of the whole book.  Many Bibles such as the NIV Study Bible give good short surveys.  Then question the passage as you read it.  What does it say? Why does it say that?  Why does God say it that way?  What does it mean to me?  As you read, apply it to yourself.  Then recall what you just.  Then review it once more, particularly a key verse or thought.  Perhaps you will want to memorize that verse or key thought.
